more lettuce eaten alone!
black sapotes! i took this picture in sort of a ripening progression!

And here are a few pics that i got off the internet of a few more green foods i enjoy:

Do mangoes count? The skin is often pretty green :) I also love spinach. Probably my favorite leafy green, that and rainbow chard.

Hello,

I saw your post on a friend of mine's blog (The Tao of Fruit). I followed the link and was surprised to see you live in Chattanooga, TN..

Interestingly, I live not far from you in TN..

I tried a version of fruitarianism
myself years ago (I stayed at T.C. Fry's house for several days, in fact, among others; William Esser, D.J. Scott, etc.). Somehow, it did not work for me. It made me quite sick, actually, and I have never fully recovered. No offense intended. I doubt I would go back to being a fruitarian, given a choice, as I'm "not that kind of person anymore". Nevertheless, I am still intriqued by that sort of thing, and thank you for your adventures as a "gastronaut" :)

Really, science should study alternative eaters. It's quite fascinating. Sometimes, I think physicians can't even believe such things exist, much less trouble themselves with examining it. They think most people are liars, I believe (which is probably an accurate view; but they aren't all liars; I know Esmee isn't; and I don't tell many fibs myself). For example, I told a physician the other day that I hadn't drank a soft drink in over 20 years. He looked at me like he couldn't believe what he was hearing, and that surely I was lying, or else mistaken, and had meant 20 minutes, instead of 20 years.

Anyway, nice to meet you, interesting how you like to climb. I'll bet that is fun. I wonder about pygmy rattlers, though ? Do you worry about them being in rock crevices as you sneak your fingers in there? Perhaps there is a method of minimizing that risk? Or maybe that just adds to the excitement of it all? ! :)

Best,
Todd in Tenn.

Hi Ash,

I figured it out. The link to follow your blog is at the top of the page.

P.S. Don't worry about my friend Todd (Zippy890), he is harmless. He just likes to stir up trouble now and then.

Blessings, Esmee

HiHoRosie- YES i love ALL of those! Hope you had a great St. Patty's Day!

Alicia- i know right!?! hahaha gross... i can't believe i ever ate stuff like that! I thought i'd celebrate by posting these more appetizing options. ;)

Calais- YUM! I love(d) hummus. I have had it raw a few times and it's divine! Now... onto finding a good raw hummus recipe!!!! (i would really love to do that soon!) p.s. i LOVE YOU!

Caleb- ha ha i guess mangos count if they are mostly green! That would be my number one choice if so. =) Oh! I forgot spinach... then again it was in the green smoothie. I love the mildness of it!

Zippy- How many days did you try fruitarianism? And how old were you at the time? That is great that you got to meet the leaders of the movement! Are you sure you weren't just detoxing? Let's say you were 20.... you were detoxing 20 years of possibly poor health.... it takes a while! I still detox from time to time and i've been mostly fruitarian (with the addition of greens and nuts) for close to 2 years (in May). Thanks for all the questions/comments on my formspring, you actually made me smile with the 5 or 6 comments in a row haha. =) So you live in Dayton, eh? Oh and about the climbing thing... yepp, its my passion. And one or two times i've been climbing where i stick my hand in a hold with a freaking BAT! one had fangs and made a screeching noise at me. Scared the shit out of me!

Esmee- hahaha its all good. I enjoy people like that. =)

Where are the fresh, snappy crisp green beans? Gotta love a garden full of them for snacks any time.... and some green spinach any day too.

For some reason, I had a dream last night and you were in it. Haha it was really weird.

Hopefully you won't get too freaked out...

Anyways, I dreamt that you were picking me up from school or something, and I was asking you all these questions about sapotes and the raw way of living. Then you got annoyed that I was asking all these questions. I think you dropped me off at this random camp and at that point, I met Durian rider. Huh. Strange.

Hope you're not too freaked out; just thought that you should know and perhaps find it funny like I do =)
