climbing diet

I climb outside every weekend, and I am finally getting ahold of what foods and eatin schedule are optimal for performance on the rock.

I have found that keeping it simple is the best way to go.

On this most recent climbing daytrip, I ate 1 grapefruit and 2 oranges for breakfast. Then I brought 4 bananas for the day --- but ended up giving one away (non-raw fooders need more fruit that I do, you know? SHARE THE LOVE!)

ANYWAYS,

I have found that when I don't eat a lot when I climb, I feel the best. This may be because I am not weighed down by food and I am able to squeeze my abs more when I don't eat a lot.

HOWEVER

after I work and climb a hard problem, I will eat a banana while I'm resting and about to move to another area. Then I wait a little bit before I climb. I only really need to eat 2-3 bananas throughout the climbing part of the day. (then after climbing I can eat a huge dinner full of fruit and leafy greens)

CONCLUSION: keep it real on climbing trips when it comes to eating. Bananas provide the easiest and most delicious energy and calories. 2-3 will get me through the day.

rawwwwwww fooooooooooooooood duuuuuuuuuuude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. people keep telling me i'm too skinny. BUT IM NOT! Too skinny is where you see someone's bones. I'm just athletic and slightly thin. I bet i could even lose another pound or two (not gonna try, but you know what i mean!?) Oh and people keep saying my cheeks are gaunt. Is that a bad thing? At first I thought it was a compliment but then my parents told me that it is a bad thing to have gaunt cheeks. HMRPH.

So many have no idea what a healthy climbers physique looks like. You/we know you aren't skinny; it's just a tightly wound bundle of BAD'ash energy waiting to give somebody a whup'in on the boulders.!!

You're just active. If you weren't fueling your body you wouldn't be able to maitain the level of physical activity that you do. You come across to me as one who's in great shape. Good for you for figuring what works best for you - keep eating those leafy greens. :)

as do several top models who are not all considered too thin. it adds character to the face lines.

I think you are beautiful, athletic, and full of energy. Someone who is a competative athlete is expected to be in the peak physical condition for there sport, which you are. If you were heavier it would be harder to lift yourself. Don't worry, eat when you are hungry, and get your greens and you will be fine!

Heh, the more my cheeks hollow out the more people are telling me how beautiful I am. I think it's directly related to that especially, as well as being tan & my skin having stopped breaking out.

Ha, Cora is right. And it's true about top models & actresses. Luckily for you, you're a lot more fit then those girls, too bad they don't know about 811rv.
